Sports & Club designs

March & April 2026

The sports section, in entirety, was a workaround an issue: due to a mistake in the ladder, we had limited space to work with for sports. Because of this, I needed a way to make a few of the clubs fit five to a page instead of the usual six. In addition, I just wanted to make the pages look more visually interesting, especially considering that there was no room for coverage. After a lot of playing around with the design, we landed on this layout, a slight change from last year (positioning of scores & rosters, omission of lines, use of varying fonts and sizes) which gave it more visual interest. Most importantly, though, I decided to make the boys' and girls' smaller teams take up a single "slot", as the photos inherently didn't require as much space.

I really liked how the clubs section turned out, as I find it much more visually pleasing than in previous years. I loved the addition of the bar behind the photos (although I can't take full credit for that!) I also loved the semi-transparent cursive letters that are a nod to the rest of the book without looking busy or cluttered on the page. Overall, I think all the club pages look very thematic. This is carried through the coverage as well: one recurring mod, seen here, was "What's the difference?", which included the faces of two officers of two different clubs. The use of the pink circles containing cutouts was consistent throughout the book, only making it more thematic visually.

Index section help

March 17, 2025

On this spread in the index section, I was tasked with captioning this photo, which was a challenge as I didn't know anyone in the frame, nor did most of my peers, so I had to find out their names and grades by asking around and using the name checker. I also obtained the context such as what concert and act this was taken at.

I contributed to the index section as a whole by doing the letters of each alphabetical section, while helping to format it and fixing any spacing errors. Also, under the "section index" heading, my section and I organized every spread of the book into one of the seven broader categories listed, in which we ran into many that could go either way, which was a challenge in itself.

Reference Section Mock Spread Design

August 30th, 2024

This is a mock mod (module) design that I created using adobe Indesign. (Shape tool, typography, framing tools, etc.) After researching ideas from other schools' yearbooks, my team and I made multiple mock designs, to use as both inspirations to further develop the book's theme and templates for the mods which will be incorporated into the people pages. This piece, in specific, is significant to me as it was one of the first designs I ever made on the yearbook, and I was proud that I was able to create it on my own.
