Savannah Busby

Hi, I'm Savannah! I am a digital media major at Dreyfoos school of the arts. Most of the elements included in this portfolio are a result of my membership in the yearbook, as a reference staffer. I have had an intense passion for all things design, photo, and journalism for as long as I can remember. I am so excited for the many opportunities to come so that I can continue to chase my passions and shape my abilities as a journalist--one project at a time.

My story
I joined the school's award-winning yearbook, the Marquee, as a sophomore this year. I have enjoyed every second in the reference section, from gathering quotes to organizing spread layouts. My past experience, such as taking creative photography and design as a digital media major, and journalism classes including yearbook back in middle school, have all led up to where I am today, and I am forever grateful for all of these opportunities.

As the year comes to a close, I reflect upon my first ever year of being on a publication as a high schooler. I feel I have grown so very much, from the most cliche aspects like getting a better understanding of Indesign (coming in with no prior experience whatsoever!), to the fact that I count on my section members to talk to whenever I need it and that I feel proud of this book as if I raised it myself. I did face issues along the way, most significantly being time management, which I'm still working on, but I feel so much more prepared and excited for my editor position next year!
